In Cuban music, the montuno is the last section of a song, and it is usually faster, bolder, and semi-improvised. In Spanish, “montuno” means, “comes from the mountain” and it refers to a style of music that originated in Santiago de Cuba, which is where they grew up on a coffee plantation.Santiago de Cuba is considered to be the birthplace of traditional Cuban music, and Jorge and Luis use the rhythms they leaned from a generation of legendary Cuban musicians.
